The Indian National Academy
of Engineering (INAE) Scholarship Program, offered by the Swami Dayanand
Education Foundation (SDEF), presents a remarkable opportunity for exceptional
students who have recently completed Class 12. This scholarship seeks to support
meritorious students entering professional undergraduate courses, notably in
engineering, medicine, and related fields, by providing financial assistance to
ease the burden of educational expenses and encourage academic excellence.
Purpose and Eligibility
The INAE scholarship is
designed to empower students who demonstrate academic brilliance and belong to
financially constrained families. Eligible candidates must have secured at
least 80% marks in their Class 12 examinations and be first-year students enrolled
in professional courses such as engineering or medicine. A noteworthy
eligibility requirement is that the applicants must have cleared nationally
recognized entrance exams like JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) or NEET
(National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) in the same year they passed Class 12.
Students who took a gap year or drop year are not eligible for this
scholarship.
Additionally, the annual
family income of the applicant must not exceed ₹12
lakhs to qualify for the program. In a move to promote gender equity, 30% of
all scholarships are reserved specifically for female students. Preference is
also given to students who have studied in government schools, recognizing the
need to uplift those from public education backgrounds.
Scholarship Benefits
Selected scholars receive
financial support of up to ₹50,000 per year. This amount
is allocated toward tuition fees, examination fees, and other related academic
expenses, helping students to focus on their studies without the stress of
financial constraints. The scholarship amount is disbursed directly to the
educational institution, ensuring transparent and effective utilization of
funds.
Required Documents
To apply successfully for
this scholarship, students must provide a comprehensive set of documents
including:
- Recent passport-sized photograph.
- Admission letter or college ID card as
proof of enrollment.
- Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets or
certificates.
- Official result letter of JEE or NEET
exams.
- Fee receipts as proof of educational
expenses.
- Family income proof documents such as
salary certificate, IT returns, or pension copies.
- Utility bills (electricity or water
bills) and agricultural land documents for candidates from farming
families to substantiate income claims.
Selection Process
The scholarship selection is
conducted through a preliminary screening involving the founder of the
foundation, followed by a detailed verification process of academic
credentials, financial status, and eligibility documents. Candidates who meet
all criteria and demonstrate academic excellence are awarded the scholarship. A
merit list is then finalized and published, with scholarship awards given based
on availability and merit ranking.
Impact and Importance
The INAE scholarship program
by the Swami Dayanand Education Foundation plays a critical role in fostering
opportunities for talented youth from diverse backgrounds, particularly
encouraging enrollment in high-demand professional fields. By supporting students
financially, this initiative significantly reduces dropout rates caused by
economic hardship and promotes inclusive growth in education.
With its emphasis on merit and equity, the program is a stepping stone for young scholars to achieve their academic and career ambitions, contributing positively to India's development prospects. The scholarship’s deadline is September 30, 2025, urging eligible students to apply promptly and leverage this esteemed opportunity to realize their educational dreams
