The SBI Platinum Jubilee
Asha Scholarship 2025-26 is one of the largest and most prestigious scholarship
programs in India, launched by the SBI Foundation. This scholarship aims to
provide financial support to meritorious students from economically disadvantaged
families across the country, ensuring they can continue their education without
financial barriers. The program covers a wide spectrum of students, from
Classes 9 to 12 to undergraduates and postgraduates studying at some of the
country’s top educational institutions, including the top 300 NIRF-ranked
universities/colleges, IITs, and premier management institutes such as IIMs.
Additionally, students planning to pursue education abroad are also eligible to
apply, making it a comprehensive and highly inclusive initiative.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the
postgraduate category of the SBI Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship 2025-26,
applicants must fulfill several conditions. They should be Indian nationals
currently enrolled in a postgraduate (any year) course at a premier university
or college in India featured among the top 300 institutes as per the latest
NIRF rankings. Alternatively, these institutions must have a National
Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) rating of A or higher, signaling
high academic standards.
Applicants must have secured
a minimum of 7 CGPA or 75% marks in the previous academic year. For students
belonging to the SC/ST category, there is a relaxation of 10%, lowering the
eligibility criterion to 6.3 CGPA or 67.5% marks. The family’s gross annual
income should not exceed ₹6,00,000. The scholarship
program emphasizes gender and social upliftment by reserving 50% of the seats
for female students and 50% for SC/ST categories (split evenly as 25% SC and
25% ST).
If any of the reserved slots
remain unfilled, the vacant seats reserved for females are allocated to male
candidates; unfilled SC seats go to ST candidates and vice versa. Remaining
unallocated SC/ST slots are offered first to OBC candidates, then to general
category applicants. This detailed reservation policy ensures broader social
inclusion and equitable access to higher education for marginalized groups.
Scholarship Benefits
Selected postgraduate
students are entitled to receive scholarships of up to ₹2,50,000,
subject to terms and conditions. The scholarship amount aims to cover tuition
fees and related expenses, significantly easing the financial burden on
students and enabling them to pursue advanced studies and research
opportunities at well-recognized institutions.
Required Documents
Applicants must prepare
several documents to complete their application. These include:
- Marksheet of the previous academic year
(Class 10 / 12 / undergraduate / postgraduate, as applicable)
- Government-issued identity proof
(Aadhaar card)
- Fee receipt for the current academic
year
- Proof of current admission such as an
admission letter, institutional identity card, or bonafide certificate
- Applicant’s or parent’s bank account
details
- Proof of family income (e.g., Form 16A,
income certificate from a government authority, or salary slips)
- Recent photograph of the applicant
- Caste certificate (if applicable).
Application Process and Deadline
Applications must be
submitted online via the SBI Foundation’s official portal. The deadline for the
2025-26 cycle is 15 November 2025. Applicants are strongly advised to submit
their documents early and verify all details to avoid disqualification or last-minute
stress.
