The Empowering
Education: Empowering Womenhood Scheme was established by the Malabar
Charitable Trust to foster educational advancement among female students from
government schools across selected states in India. Initiated in 2007, this
impactful scholarship program has consistently supported young women in their
pursuit of higher education, aiming to level the playing field and encourage
academic excellence within underserved communities.
Purpose and Vision
The heart of this scheme
lies in its commitment to bridging gender disparities in education. By
delivering financial aid directly to female students, the program enhances
their ability to access quality academic opportunities and unlock their full
potential. It recognizes that investing in women’s education is not only a
catalyst for individual growth but also for societal transformation.
Who Can Apply?
To ensure the scholarship
reaches the most deserving candidates, the eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Gender: Only female students are
eligible.
- Academic Performance: A minimum of
60% marks in the Class 10 examination is mandatory.
- Educational Level: Applicants must
be enrolled in a full-time, regular higher secondary, undergraduate, or
degree program at a government or government-aided institution in selected
states of India.
- Program Type: Only students in
full-time, regular academic programs may apply.
- Preference: Students with the
highest marks and lowest family income receive priority, with further
consideration given to those from SC, ST, EWC (Economically Weaker
Category), and OBC backgrounds.
Scholarship Benefits
Selected candidates are
awarded a one-time financial grant of up to ₹10,000 for
the academic year. The actual amount is determined based on the student’s
academic record and their standing as per the selection criteria.

Applicants should prepare
these documents during the application process:
- Class 10 certificate and qualifying exam
marksheet
- Recent photograph
- Bank passbook
- Declaration form from parent
- Declaration form from the current
institution
- Proof of family income
- Disability certificate (if applicable)
- Death certificate (if applicable)
Application Process and Selection
- Deadline: All applications must be
submitted by 31 August 2025.
- Selection Criteria: Applications
will be assessed on the basis of both academic merit and socio-economic
need. Preference is granted to those with outstanding academic achievement
and from underprivileged socio-economic backgrounds.
- Notification: Successful applicants
will receive updates via SMS on the mobile number provided in their
application.
