The World Konkani Centre,
Mangaluru, has announced the Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships for the academic year
2025-2026, aimed at supporting Konkani-speaking students—irrespective of caste
or religion—who are embarking on their first year of professional engineering
education. This initiative is a flagship effort to nurture academic excellence
and build capacity among the Konkani community by providing both financial aid
and holistic development opportunities
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To ensure that the
scholarship reaches the most deserving students, the following criteria must be
met:
- Mother Tongue: Only candidates
whose mother tongue is Konkani are eligible, regardless of caste or
religion. Applicants must provide a mother tongue certificate at the time
of application.
- Course Admission: The scholarship
is open exclusively to students seeking admission to the first year of an
undergraduate engineering course in 2025.
- Academic Performance: Applicants
must have scored above 80% in core subjects (PCM/PCB) in II PUC (Class 12)
and secured a rank of 30,000 or below in the Common Entrance Test (CET),
or hold a meritorious rank in any other recognized entrance exam. Proof of
marks and rank must be submitted
- Family Income: The total family
income should be less than ₹5
lakh per annum. Applicants need to submit recommendation letters from a
family doctor and a Chartered Accountant, using the prescribed format
- Development Commitment: Selected
candidates must participate in a skill development and mentoring program
throughout their engineering studies and agree to sponsor two students
after securing employment post-graduation.
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
- Monetary Support: Each selected
student will receive a scholarship amount of ₹50,000,
significantly easing the financial burden of engineering education.
- Skill Development: Beyond financial
aid, the Vishwa Konkani Student Scholarship Programme offers a structured
skill development and mentoring program, supporting scholars through every
stage of their academic journey.
- Community Building: The program
fosters a culture of giving back, with recipients expected to support
future students, thus sustaining the cycle of empowerment within the
Konkani community.
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Online Only: Applications must be
submitted online through the World Konkani Centre’s dedicated portal. Hard
copy submissions will not be accepted.
- Documentation: Applicants must
upload all required certificates, marksheets, entrance exam ranks, income
proof, and recommendation letters in the prescribed formats.
- Deadline: The last date to apply is
15th July 2025.
